Bayern Munich left-back Alfonso Davies is set to leave the club without a new contract after all.
European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano said on Monday (Aug. 28), "Davies has no intention of renewing his contract. A decision will be made next week, but it's a tense situation. Real are now ready to open negotiations with Munich."
Recently, Davies has been linked with Spanish Primera Liga giants Real. At the end of this season, Davies will only have one year left on his contract with Munich. Davies signed a new five-year contract with the Bavarians in April 2020. The Bavarians wanted to re-sign him, but he demanded a salary of €15 million per year.
This season, he has been a regular in Munich's starting defense. Davies anchored the left side of the defense with one goal and three assists in 30 games. Munich were originally unwilling to match Davies' salary demands, but changed their minds and offered him a new deal worth €13 million to €14 million per year until 2029.
However, Munich's ultimatum was met with a one-day decision to move to Real. It is believed that the transfer talks have already been finalized with Real. Mario Cortegana of Spain reported on the 28th that "Real have almost completed the signing of Davis. Most of it has been finalized, and they are waiting."
Davies is a left back from Canada. Davies broke all kinds of records with the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS. He became the first player born in the 2000s in MLS, the youngest player to make his debut for the Canadian national team (16 years, 7 months, 12 days) and the youngest player to score for the Canadian national team (16 years, 8 months, 5 days) before moving to Munich in 2018.
Davies made his first-team debut for Munich at the age of 18. From the 2019-20 season onward, Davies cemented his place in the starting lineup, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 29 Bundesliga games and three assists in eight UEFA Champions 먹튀검증 League games to help the team win the treble. He became the youngest defender ever to win the award and the first Canadian to do so.
The following season, Davies helped the team win the DFL-Supercup with an assist, while also reaching the top of the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. They also dominated the Bundesliga, winning seven trophies in two years. For his performances, Davies was named to the 2020 FIFA FIFPro World XI.
However, Davies is now leaving Munich to join Real. Real now have to negotiate a transfer fee with Munich. In order to avoid losing Davis to free agency, Munich will have to sell this summer.
Munich are reportedly looking for €50 million for Davies. Real will try to negotiate a transfer fee with Munich to get Davies cheaper. If Real were to sign Davis, they would have Kylian Mbappe and Davis as their strongest left back line.
