Gimhae City, ABCT Asian Youth Basketball Championship Achievement

Gimhae City announced on the 29th that a total of 300 players from 31 teams from nine Asian countries, including South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, participated in the ABCT Asian Youth Basketball Competition, which was held in Gimhae City for three days from the 26th to the 28th.
In Korea, youth clubs from Gimhae, Busan, Jeonju, and Uiryeong participated.

Hosted and organized by the Gimhae City Basketball Association and sponsored by Gimhae City and Gimhae City Sports Council, the competition was divided into five categories (U-10, U-12, U-15, U-18, and Girls) and was held in a preliminary group stage and a finals tournament.

In particular, the U-15 was divided into rookie and champion categories according to basketball skills.

Asian youth players, who have gathered with a passion for basketball beyond the country or age, did their best in each game, and the heat filled the stadium.

On the occasion of the 2024 Gimhae Visit Year, the Korean players' team toured Gimhae City, including Gaya Theme Park, Gimhae Museum, and Lotte Water Park, from the 26th to the 29th.

As a result of the competition, Indonesia HOPE won the U10, U12, and U15 championship categories, Gimhae S·K won the U15 rookie category, Singapore's HOB won the U18 championship, and Vietnam's international won the Girls.

A city official said, "This competition, which was held to mark the Year of the Visit to Gimhae, is very meaningful as it becomes a place where young people from all over the world gather to compete and exchange through basketball," adding, "I hope my time in Gimhae City will remain a good memory."
