 Ways to Sort out QuickBooks  Payroll Errors 

  Method 1: Fix QuickBooks 

  •  First, click  Start and select Control Panel.
  •  Then double-click the Add or Remove App button. 
  • Select QuickBooks, and then click Change/Remove.
  •  In the QuickBooks installation window, click Next. 
  • Opt For  Repair, click Next, and then click Repair in the QuickBooks maintenance window.
  •  Afterwards, click Finish.

 Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks 

  • First, click on the Windows Start icon and then select  Control Panel.
  •  Then, under Programs, click  Uninstall a program.
  •  After that, select the  QuickBooks payroll program you want to delete.
  •  Then click Remove/Change. 
  • Uninstalling the program may take some time.
  •  After the uninstall is complete, reboot the system.  
  • Reinstall  QuickBooks payroll software.

 Method 3: Manually Remove QuickBooks Installation Folders

  • C:\Program Files\Intuit  C:\Program Files\Shared Files\Intuit 
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit  
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Common Files\Intuit  and
  •  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents (Shared Documents)\Intuit

 Method 4: Renaming CPS  Folder 

  • Before going to the next step, you must first update your QuickBooks payroll tax table. Check whether the error is fixed or not. If the error still occurs, we recommend following the steps below. 
  • Open My Computer, then navigate to  Local Drive C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\Payroll\CPS. 
  • Here, XX represents the year of your QuickBooks version, such as QuickBooks 2019, QuickBooks 2018, etc. 
  • Then you need to rename the CPS folder to "CPSOLD". 
  •  Refresh the payroll tax table in QuickBooks again and check if the problem is solved or not.

Method 5: Disable User Account Control 

  • Follow the steps below to change UAC settings in Windows 10, 8.1, 8, and 7.
  •    Press and hold Windows + R on your keyboard. This will open Windows Run.
  •  In this window, type control panel, and then click  OK. 
  •  Here, click on the User Accounts button and then select the User Account (Classic View) option.  
  • After that, go to  Change user account management settings and select the Never Notify option.

 Method 6: Run Reboot.Bat File

  • The first step is to close  Quickbooks Desktop/Payroll. 
  • Then, the next step is to open the QuickBooks folder where the Run Reboot.bat file is located. 
  • Now you need to run the file as an administrator. 
  • After completing the above step, you will see the Dos command line open and running. You have to wait for  the process to finish, which will close by itself. 
  • Do not close the window manually. After closing, you must restart the system. Start QuickBooks Desktop and then check if the problem reoccurs.

 Method 7 : Install a Digital Signature Certificate

  • Begin the process by navigating to the C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks folder.
  •  Locate the QBW32.exe file in your QuickBooks directory. Right-click on the file. 
  •  Opt for Properties from the drop-down menu.  
  • Go to the Digital Signatures tab and make sure to select Intuit from the list of signatures. Select the Details menu.
  •  In the Digital Signature Details window, select View Certificate from the menu.  
  • Go to  Install Certificate. Click Next until the Finish message appears on the computer screen.
  •  Then, click  Finish and restart your computer.  Open QuickBooks Desktop and redownload the Payroll/QuickBooks update after the machine has booted properly.
